Top Ten Author on my Auto Buy List

First off, hello!! This is the first post at Pages at Random and I thought what better way than to start with one of my favorite features. So without further ado..

Brought to you by the wonderful bloggers at The Broke and the Bookish.

So this week's theme is the Top Ten books on my auto buy list.. I totally plan on doing another post introducing myself, BUT what you have to know about me is I read all the books. I don't have a specific genre or age range that I stick with, if it looks good and has good reviews; I give it a shot.

1. Agatha Christie

My grandmother is the one to blame for this one. I have always been a fan of mystery books and she would load me up with Poirot and Miss Marple mysteries. This is also an author I only buy hard copies of. I feel ebooks cheapen the classics.

2. V.C. Andrews

Another I can blame on my grandma, (she reads more than I do). Andrews stories are so twisted and real at the same time. I remember many a night staying up late finishing one of her books. This is also another one I only buy hard copies.

3. Veronica Roth

I am hoping that there is going to be future books from her because I am still in love with her Divergent trilogy. It had one of the saddest and, in my opinion, best endings that I have encountered in awhile.

4. John Sandford

Funny enough, this is another that my grandma turned me onto. I think he is one of the best crime fiction authors and I love his Lucas Davenport novels.

5. Kay Hooper

Hooper has one of my favorite series of ever, the Bishop/Special Crime Unit series. They all have powers like psychic, mediums, telekinesis, etc. Her books keep me on my toes!

6. Ellen Hopkins

Her Crank trilogy was a big part of my late teen to early 20s stage. I was dealing with addiction of my own and I connected with her poetry so much.

7. Marissa Meyer

I am absolutely in love with her Lunar Chronicles series and sad to say it ends after Winter..
It's one of the best fairy tale retellings I have read.

8. Chelsea Handler

I LOVE her books.. The whole time I am reading them I am hyperventilating because I'm laughing so hard. Funnier thing? I don't care for her stand up or show all that much. What do you guys think?

9. Stephen King

I love horror, so safe to say this man is one of my favorite authors of all time. The things that come from this man's mind scares me, but I am glad he writes it down!!

10. George R.R. Martin

I throw Mr. Martin in the mix because he was my first real intro into fantasy with The Song of Ice and Fire series. I haven't looked back since, I am eagerly anticipating (DYING for) the next installment.

So there you have it, my first official blog entry as well as participation in Top Ten Tuesdays. I have had loads of fun trying to narrow down my list to 10 and not 20. I hope everyone enjoyed it as well, leave a comment, and follow if you wish.  Have a great day!!

  1. Nice list, I'll have to agree with you on Stephen King, he is an amazing storyteller. Agatha Christie is an author I would like to "get into" do you have a suggestion for a Christie virgin?

    1. Thanks! Oh where to begin.. Hmm, my favorite one of hers is And Then There Were None. It's was the first Christie book I read. Murder on the Orient Express and The A.B.C. Murders are really good too. If you do end up reading any of her books, let me know what you think!
