Top Ten Tuesdays is brought to you by the lovelies at The Broke and the Bookish
I know it's been awhile, the shared laptop we had officially died.. I lost more things than I care to imagine, BUT the boyfriend got me a new one for my birthday!! Which he was already planning on doing, but I was really anxious after the other one went kaput. Enough about that, let's get to the list! I always try to have a little theme to any mini TBR piles, so for the Fall TBR I went with series starters. Honestly, it doesn't make sense because I still have so many series to finish.. But I need to start some new adventures. Only reading series in a row here lately, I feel I need a change of scenery.
1. American Girl on Saturn by Nikki Godwin
YA/Romance
2. Splintered by A.G. Howard
YA/Retelling/Fantasy
This one I definitely remember getting in a giveaway because I received the second in the series, Unhinged, as well. It's an Alice in Wonderland retelling, and the cover alone makes me want to just read it.
3. Hunted by the Others by Jess Haines
Urban Fantasy/Paranormal/Vampires
YA/Retelling/Fantasy
3. Hunted by the Others by Jess Haines
Urban Fantasy/Paranormal/Vampires
This is another one I received in a giveaway with the second book included. It's called Taken by the Others. I can't even tell you the last time I have read any vampire books. I have nothing against them, just been awhile. So thought I'd try them out again with this book.
4. The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski
YA/Fantasy
Can we just take a moment to look at this cover? Have I mentioned I'm a cover whore? Especially with pretty dresses, I am weak. Need to actually read it, I have heard very good things about it.
5. Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer
MG/Fantasy
I have actually already started reading this at the beginning of summer, but never finished it. I'm going to give it another try before my final verdict, because I snagged this and the second book, The Arctic Incident, at Goodwill for 50 cents each. All else fails, I have a 10,8,7, and 4 year old that love reading as well.
6. Second Chance Grill by Christine Nolfi
Contemporary/Romance
After already owning the second, Treasure Me and the fourth, Four Wishes, the author is gifting me a copy of the this! I am pretty excited because nothing irks me more than having some books in a series and not the first.. I can't knowingly start a series in the middle. I just can't do it..
7. Live for You by Marquita Valentine
Contemporary/Romance
This was another giveaway I won, and I actually won the first five in the Boys of the South series. So, yea, definitely way overdue on starting these..
8. The Taker by Alma Katsu
Paranormal/Fantasy
I won this book years ago when I first started my profile on Goodreads. I was eager to enter all the giveaways and win all the books.. While neither happened, I did try and start this one when I first received it. I just couldn't get into it, I was probably not feeling the genre at the time because I do tend to fluctuate. I want to give it another try because most reviews I've read are really good..
9. Fallen by Lauren Kate
YA/Romance/Paranormal/Angels
This was another Goodwill buy, biggest regret being, it didn't have it's dust jacket. The original cover is gorgeous, and I wish my book wasn't so naked.. Although, one upside is, it's about angels which is something I've never read about before. It'll (hopefully) be nice to read, since there is already 5 plus book in the series.
10. Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
YA/Fantasy/Steam Punk
I purchased this book awhile back after it came out in paperback. I have only read the first three in The Mortal Instruments series, but been told many times that this is definitely it's own series. They both deal with Shadowhunters but The Infernal Devices is a prequel to TMI. Which I feel stupid for clarifying because these two series are uber popular.
A lot of these books, well most of them are not new series. Which is even more reason to get them started because a lot of the trilogies/series are complete or have a few books out. Keeps me from the dreaded wait for the next like Winter by Marissa Meyer.. November 1st cannot come quick enough.
It's so good to be back and actually start this blogging thing off right. I have a few more reviews to get up, and also a couple meme ideas I want to try out. One dealing with kid's books and other with comics, let me know what you think in the comments!
Have you read any on my Fall TBR? Some of them I feel like I'm the only one that hasn't read them yet haha. Let me know what you thought of them, or link to your reviews. I rely heavily on reviews deciding what to read next. Have a great day!
Stephanie

Happy Reading!
I'm actually considering starting with Splintered or The Winner's Curse. Both are series that I should have started by now in my opinion
DeleteI've never read Artemis Fowl before! And I've seen it around since I was a kid. Fallen is another I've seen (but not for as long) that I've been meaning to pick up. Great list! :)

ReplyDeleteGreat list. I wanted to read Splintered when it came out, but never got around to it. I think my daughter read Clockwork Angel and enjoyed it. She really wants me to read TMI, but you should see all the books I still have to read before I get to it.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the new laptop. Thanks for visiting The Book Connection.
